Tigers fail to make possession count

24 September 2012

TAIBACH had the lion’s share of territory and possession during the 80minutes, but failed to secure their first win in Division 2 West, losing at home to Builth Wells.

Aaron Jones makes a break.

Aaron Jones gave Taibach the lead in the sixth minute with a well struck penalty, and from the restart, Taibach were encamped on the Builth try line for most of the first half.

However, sound defence by the visitors held the Tigers at bay, and they could only increase their lead with a second penalty from Jones, for a 6-0 lead at half time.

The pattern of the game continued in the second half, but on 15 minutes Builth finally broke out of their half for the first time, and were rewarded when prop Luke Murray crossed for a try, converted by outside half Luke Offa.

From the restart, play wasagain taken into the visitors’ twenty-two, where it remained for long periods – but the vital score never materialised for Taibach.
