Aled Jones tops our list with a St David’s Day special at the Princess Royal Theatre

Our guide for February and March is certain to have you scrambling for space in your diary as there is so much to do. A creative writing group kicks us off and is joined by some stand out tribute acts at Blancos, wildlife at Margam Park, a motorcycle event in Taibach and a St David’s day spectacle from singer, Aled Jones. Don’t miss it!

 Almost Rod

Ok we admit that it won’t be the dishevelled haired, raspy sounding singer but it will be the next best tribute act. In a fabulous night’s entertainment, Blancos are also including a 3 course hot carvery and a disco. Costs start at £22.50 per person or from £105 per couple that includes the show and stay.

Ollie Murs

From one London lothario to another. Ollie Murs is the singer being mimicked on Saturday 13 February in what is sure to be a pleasurable evening. Again there will be a three course menu, entertainment and a disco. This time it is £24.50 per person or from £109 per couple for show and stay.

Snow-time cupcakes with “Pamela’s Cupcakes”

Calling all fans of the Great British Bake Off. Snow-time cupcakes with Pamela’s Cupcakes is an event based on cake decoration. This particular event has the theme of Winter, allowing you to choose from a snowman, polar bear, penguin or a snowflake. Your design will be the piece de resistance to compliment the succulent taste of your bakes. We might even go ourselves in readiness for the next local fete.

Lego Fun at Sandfields Library

The celestial beauty of the colourful world of lego is clear for all to see this month at Sandfields Library. An event that is open to all Children but those under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. (2.30 hours)

Winter Wildlife  and mountain biking with MAC

Adrenalin junkies are going to be chomping at the bit when we explain the mountain biking on offer at Margam Park. Mac will lead you over the Margam terrain in a full throttle fun exercise. If this isn’t enough to feed your imagination, there will also be the chance of meeting a few local residents in the shape of the park’s well known wildlife.

 Activity Fun at Sandfields Library

Board games are notoriously played over the Christmas period with the family, but now Sandfields Library are bringing the merriment to Spring. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Zoolab at Margam Country Park

Animals in Winter is the theme at Margam’s Zoolab over half term, and is sure to enlighten the children and even have you asking questions. The rangers at Margam Park have animals at the forefront of their work and they want you to see their beauty for yourself.

Friday’s session will be based on animals in winter. From hibernation, migration and adaptation to survive the cold, there is a lot of interesting information.

Session times 11.00, 12.15, 1.45 and 3.00. (Sessions approx. 45 minutes). Tickets £3 per child. Meet in the Castle.

Dragon Rider Cymru

Dragon Rider Cymru is the new course in Taibach designed for advanced riders. It is supported by the Driving Standards Agency and overseen by qualified motorcycle instructors so come along to satisfy your need for speed.

 Afternoon Tea

 A cup of tea has been said to solve all problems and what better way to do so than with a social gathering at Baglan Library.

 St David’s Day with Aled Jones plus Special Guests

 Don the daffodil and spend the day celebrating the patron saint of Wales and Welsh culture at the Princess  Royal Theatre. Walking in the Air singer Aled Jones has taken his career down several different paths since his big break in 1980, from presenting ITV morning news programmes to Songs of Praise on Sunday evening.  He has also starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, earning rave reviews. His performing skills are excellent and the reason why his shows rarely leave an empty seat. Jones has a total of 30 albums to his name and is sure to have some top guests to make this a St David’s Day to remember.

 Song and Rhyme

Come along with your babies and toddlers in tow for this enjoyable song and rhyme events. Mums, Dads, Grandparents, carers all welcome to join in the fun.
