PORT Talbot Town FC have confirmed that a winding-up order has been served on the club by HMRC for a non-payment of VAT/PAYE debt.
While the club is disappointed by the course of action taken, it accepts its responsibilities.
The outstanding debt has arisen as a result of poor cash flow in recent months due to the fact the club has played only two home games since December 26 because of adverse weather conditions.
There have been a number of postponements in recent weeks.
Club CEO Andrew Edwards said: “The outstanding debt will be paid within the next seven days.
“I’d like to reassure supporters that the directors of the club are committed to safeguarding its future and to resolving this situation as quickly as possible.”
The club has made Welsh Premier League secretary Gwyn Derfel fully aware of the situation.
