A STIFF defence earned Taibach another close win, this time at Underhill Park, which they secured in injury time with a second try from full back Matthew Rowland.

Mumbles took a 3-0 lead after 10 minutes with a penalty from full back Andrew Claypole, but within three minutes Taibach took the lead when their back line took play into the home side’s half and Matthew Rowland took the ball on the 22 and swerved past several defenders before crossing for a try. Outside half Aaron Jones converted.

With play in injury time, Andrew Claypole kicked a second penalty for a score of 6-7 to Taibach at half time.

Mumbles took the lead 17 minutes into the second half with a third penalty from Andrew Claypole, and the score remained until injury time.

However, Taibach refused to accept defeat and set up an attack just inside their half, where outside half Aaron Jones broke away and, after reaching the 22, passed to full back Matthew Rowland who brushed off tacklers to cross for his second, match-winning try.
