A 34-year-old Sandfields man was admitted to hospital on Tuesday following what police have described as a “domestic-related assault”.
South Wales Police have since confirmed they are investigating the incident, and arrested a 34-year-old woman on suspicion of assault.
Residents living in nearby streets said on social media that two houses on Dew Road had been cordoned off, and that there were “police everywhere”. Others said houses in Southdown View were also behind police tape.
“Apparently there’s police cars everywhere and someone in ambulance in Dew Road area,” said Ceri John on the Facebook group Port Talbot Debate and Argue.
Others alleged the man had been stabbed, but police have not confirmed whether a knife was used in the attack.
A police spokesman said the man’s injuries are not life threatening.
He added: “A 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and is in police custody. Armed officers were deployed to ensure the safety of the public and police officers in the area. Officers are currently carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.”
