Aberavon seafront will be the scene of much activity this weekend as two big fundraising events get underway.

On Saturday, the 4th annual Aberavon Beach 5k Run will take place at 12.30pm from Aberavon Lifeguard Club. Runners will be raising money to help two local children with cerebral palsy, Marlie-Grace Roberts and Peter Ryan.

In previous years the run raised more than  £13,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund, Singleton Hospital Chemotheraphy Unit, local charity SNAC, SANDS, Mission for Sam and Aberavon Surf Life Saving Club.

Then on Sunday (April 27) the 6th annual ‘Aberavon Walk for Life’ in aid of the Kidney Wales Foundation will get underway.

The family fun walk starts at Franco’s Chip Shop at 2pm and organisers are hoping for a massive turnout.

The Mayor of Neath Port Talbot Councillor Marion Lewis will lead the walk, along with local superhero Captain Beany.

Ladies choir, Cor Serenata, will be serenading walkers along the prom.
