THE contractors building Harbour Way, the new dual carriageway in Port Talbot, have raised more than £10,000 for the Special Needs Activity Centre in Taibach.
Costain chose Snac to be its charity of the year at the beginning of the 2012, with a £10,000 target.
In the event, the team rose £11,500 through a variety of activities including a bike ride to North Wales, a skydive, golf tournaments, running the Cardiff half marathon, quiz nights and car washes.
Snac, which has been supporting children and families with disabilities for 10 years, has been given the money to help with the running costs of the club and to buy new equipment for the children to use.
Snac chairwoman Hayley Hall said of the donation: “A big thank you to Costain and all their staff for everything they have done for Snac. Without people and companies like Costain, we wouldn’t be here for our Special children.”
Costain’s Harbour Way project manager, John Skentelbery, added: “We chose to raise money for Snac throughout 2012 because of the tireless work they do to help disabled children and their families in the town.
“The future of the club relies on the generosity of the public and fundraising. Hopefully our donation will help secure the future of the club for another year.”
