WALES rugby legend Derek Quinnell is guest speaker at a special business lunch which is taking place in Port Talbot on Friday.
The lunch at Blancos Hotel has been arranged by Aberavon Sportsmen’s Club to foster sports development in the town.
The club plans to hold a lunch every month to raise at least £1,000 to support one of the local sports clubs. It also wants to provide free kit and sports equipment to every school in the town over an 18-month period.
Clubs slated to benefit from the cash include Aberavon RFC, Tonmawr RFC, Pontrhydyfen RFC, Cwmavon RFC, Bryn RFC, Glyncorrwg RFC, Aberavon Quins, Aberavon Green Stars, Aberavon Naval Club RFC, Taibach RFC, Tata TFC and Baglan RFC; Port Talbot Town AFC, Afan Lido AFC, Goytre AFC and Tata AFC; Port Talbot Town Cricket Club, Margam CC and Tata CC; Port Talbot Harriers; Neath Port Talbot Rugby League Club, and Port Talbot Wheelers cycling club.
Businesses based in Neath Port Talbot are being encouraged to contribute by booking seats at Friday’s event, in which a three-course lunch will be served at 1pm with former Llanelli, Barbarians and Lions star Quinnell.
The aim is for the lunches, to be held on the first Friday of every month, to become an established forum for the business community.
To book a seat and reserve a place, email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone Blancos on 01639 864500.
