No shame as Lido fall to Swans

Premier League-bound Swansea City arrived at the Marston’s Stadium with a squad packed full of experience.

They also featured a scattering of promising youngsters such as Lucas, Alfei and Cornell.

An entertaining first half saw Beattie and Lucas net for the Swans with a further effort by Butler ruled out by a questionable offside decision.

A worry for visiting boss Brendan Rodgers will be the failure of his second half team to trouble a well organised and spirited Lido side.

Apart from a penalty from Dobbie well saved by Carl Curtis, an almost full strength Swans line-up failed to trouble Andrew Dyer’s Welsh Premier League newcomers.

Swansea fans will hope that Danny Graham will add much needed bite to a Swansea City side that for all its possession failed to trouble the Lido net with a frequency that it deserved.

An opening top-flight fixture at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium awaits a Swansea City squad which surely needs another two or three additions to make it competitive in a Premier League awash with money and big name signings.

Lido, meanwhile, will surely approach the new WPL season with expectation after this performance.

Swansea now head to Austria for a pre-season training camp whilst Lido take on Championship outfit Coventry City at the Marstons Stadium this Tuesday (July 26) at 7pm.
