Gabriella-Francesca Jukes, winner of Miss Neath Port Talbot 2016, has set her sights on the title of Miss Wales.
Fittingly, the competition final will be held at the Princess Royal Theatre, and Gabriella will be hoping for a home advantage.
The Miss Wales finalist, who first got involved in the competitions in 2014, is aiming to win the Miss Wales 2016 competition following her success in winning the Miss Neath Port Talbot accolade.
The Port Talbot local spoke of her excitement ahead of the final saying, “I can’t wait to do the final all over again. It’s an incredible experience and I’d definitely recommend any young women to apply and take part. It’s so much more than just a beauty pageant.”
She also recognises how success in the competition could aid the community. She said, “I realise that winning is more than just having the title of Miss Wales, it’s a responsibility. It’s a great opportunity to get the local area on the map, as well as getting the community together.”
Gabriella, 19, also works alongside Port Talbot Afan Women’s aid in both ambassadorial and volunteer roles. She said, “I love to help out and fund-raise for such an amazing cause. In the past I have modelled at the Material Girls fashion shows, and appeared in their calendar. The work the ladies do there is very inspirational. More recently I did a bucket collection at a local rugby match, and also handed out White Ribbons to raise awareness for Domestic Abuse.”
The Miss Wales competition works to empower women and help disadvantaged children worldwide. Since 2004, the competition has raised nearly £500,000 with all proceeds being used to support those in need in Wales.
