Tata Steel has contributed £200 to the Neath Port Talbot Special Needs Group.
The charity is raising money for IT equipment to launch an information sharing website.
NPTSNG is a support group for parents of children with additional needs. It consists of parents and carers of children, teenagers and adults with needs such as autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, severe learning difficulties and mobility issues.
The group’s prime focus is providing peer support for parents and carers while also using weekly sessions to access information and advice from a variety of speakers.
Garry Loynes, Tata Steel employee and chairman of the group, contacted the company’s community relations team with a request for financial assistance.
He had researched costs and explained that the group wished to launch the website for parents to share problems and experiences.
Tata community relations liaison officer Nia Singleton said: “We contributed because the group are doing such fantastic work for local residents.”
Group vice chairman Carol Mills said: “We thank Tata Steel for this donation. Here at the group we discuss problems and are here to help.”
