Get your mo at the ready

27 November 2013

MOUSTACHES have been sprouting up all over Port Talbot this month as part of the men’s health campaign Movember, which aims to raise awareness of men’s cancers during the month of November. scott morgan moustache

One dedicated moustache grower is Baglan musician and guitar tutor Scott Morgan, who has decided to see out his facial hair in style in a grand ‘Movember after party’ at the Bar Gallois on Friday.

“I grew a moustache for Movember last year and raised £300, but my sister has cancer now and so this year it made me really want to do something more to give money to a charity that is doing a lot for cancer sufferers. So I decided to go one better and have a party to try to raise even more,” he said.

There will be music from Scott’s band Propella alongside several of his students as well as a raffle and moustache-related games.

“You don’t have to have a moustache to come to the party,” said Scott, “but we prefer it if you do. In fact, if you are doing Movember, you can get in for free.”

The best moustache of the evening – real or fake – will be awarded a prize – though Scott is staying tight-lipped about what that might be.

“The main thing is to have a fun night in aid of an excellent charity, so I hope lots of people come to help us celebrate another fantastic Movember, raising lots of money.”

The Movember After Party is at Bar Gallois, Friday November 29, 7.30pm. Tickets £4 in advance, call 07875 210 440, or £6 on the door. Proceeds go to the Movember Foundation.
