Report from Tom Knight

The West Wales Women & Girls League are hosting the under 12’s playoff finals and the Ladies Cup Final at Afan Lido on Thursday (May 29).

Gates open at 5:30pm for the under 12’s playoff final between Llangyfelach and Rhos. Entry is £1 and kick off at 6pm.

Gates open 6:30 for the ladies’ final between Briton Ferry Llansawel and Landore. Entry is £2, and kick off 7:45. If you are at the under 12’s game you get into the ladies’ game for free.

It has been an exciting end to the first u12 season and after 56 games, Llangyfelach and Rhos finish on the same points in the league. The teams played each other in the league cup final two weeks ago, with Llangyfelach winning. Are Rhos out for revenge or are Llangyfelach going to win the double?

Also the Ladies’ League Cup Final will be an exciting event which sees this year’s finalists, newly formed Briton Ferry Llansawel (league champions) and Landore (runners up in the League Cup last season) battling for the honour of becoming the League Cup Champions.  Will there be another double champion this year or will the honours be split this season?

At half time in the Ladies Cup Final of all the Junior League & Cup Champions from the West Wales Women and Girls League will be presented to the crowd for a lap of honour to promote their successes.

Come down and enjoy both of the finals – they are set to be an eventful end to a  fabulous season.  For any more information on how you can get involved with women’s and girls’ football in West Wales, please contact wwwgl@gmx.com or visit the website wwwgl.org.uk.
